Landing page and lead page: what each measures

Content updated:

Scope: Documentation reviewed on 13 October 2026. Examples are fictional and tests are proposed; CallsIQ has not performed product tests.

Short answer

The entry page starts the observed journey; the lead page is where the captured action occurs. They can coincide or differ. A contact-page form does not establish that the page generated demand: retain both positions and source under explicit session rules.

Key verification: Each row reconstructs entry, lead location and source or declares unavailable fields.

Sources and limitations

A report places most forms on Contact and someone proposes sending every ad there. Before changing destinations, check which pages helped visitors decide. This guide separates acquisition from action location through an original exercise without claiming improvement or recommending budgets from one column.

Two fields and one unit

Define report journey start and end. Avoid combining different-day sessions merely because they share a browser. Identify repeat leads and unknown pages. Action location may be unavailable for a call to a printed number; do not fill it with the last URL an agent remembers.

Fictional journeys

Landing page and lead page: what each measures: table 1

CContactForm on Contact

Contact appears twice as submission location but only once as entry. Counting only submissions hides A’s journey. Nor does the case study establish causation for B’s call: this describes an observed sequence. These three invented rows are not a statistical comparison.

The distinction in WhatConverts

WhatConverts documents landing-page and lead-page grouping. Reconcile those fields against authorised test journeys. Check scope, filters and actual capture; a report does not establish coverage of every visit.

Before changing a page

Reproduce direct entry and entry through a service, record expectations and reconcile the lead record. Investigate differences before editing links or content. CallsIQ has not run this WhatConverts test. A manual table may clarify a few journeys; proving conversion improvement requires a different evaluation.
