My page is not showing on Google: how to check crawling and indexing

Content updated:

Scope: Documentation-based guide. The proposed resources and tests are editorial material, not results of product tests performed by CallsIQ.

Short answer

Inspect the exact URL in Search Console, distinguishing indexed records from the live test. Check response, crawl permissions, noindex and canonical. Accessibility or technical eligibility does not guarantee indexing. If already indexed, absence for a query may concern ranking or relevance.

Key verification: Retain indexed status, live result, canonical and response for the same URL to justify the next change.

Sources and limitations

Not finding a page when searching for its service does not prove Google is unaware of it. It may be uncrawled, excluded, represented by another URL or absent from that particular search. Each condition needs a different check before editing content.

Work with the exact URL

Check protocol, domain, path and destination after redirects. A parameterised version or old address may differ from the published page. Open the relevant Search Console property and use URL Inspection.

The single-page diagnosis guidance distinguishes indexed information from the live test. The latter checks current conditions rather than establishing that version already appears in results or guaranteeing indexing.

Original diagnosis map

Page missing from Google: crawling and indexing: table 1
Observed statusNext questionAction to investigate
Unavailable or errorDoes the published URL respond?Resolve destination or server
Restricted crawlingIs blocking intentional?Review rules with the owner
Indexing exclusionShould the page be public?Review noindex and conditions
Another selected canonicalIs an equivalent version present?Compare signals and content
IndexedWhich query and page are sought?Review relevance and performance

The map classifies problems rather than promising automatic correction. Retain date, URL and observed message. A search-query screenshot does not replace those records.

Check exclusions before removing them

Noindex may be appropriate for a draft or private content. Do not remove controls merely to index every URL. Confirm with the owner which page should be public and whether its contents may be displayed.

Crawl controls and indexing exclusion are not interchangeable. If blocking prevents Google reading instructions on a page, do not assume it will apply that content. Investigate the specific combination while preserving controls necessary for non-public information.

When eligible but still not indexed

Review usefulness, actual duplication, internal links and destination consistency. Sitemap inclusion helps discovery without compelling indexing. Do not publish semantic variants of the same guide to find a version accepted into the index.

The Google recrawl guidance states that requests guarantee neither immediate inclusion nor inclusion at all. Correct the confirmed problem and request crawling where appropriate; repeated requests do not create a deadline guarantee.

When already indexed

Review queries and page performance over an appropriate period. Absence for a particular query may involve competition, intent or search context. Do not automatically infer a penalty or promise a position from adding words.

Fictional example: an old URL redirects to the current indexed guide. Diagnosis avoids rewriting content to solve a nonexistent issue: the team reviews links still pointing to the retired address.

What to request when commissioning support

Brandify describes technical and content review in its local-business service. Request URL-specific diagnosis, evidence, proposed changes and subsequent checks if considering it. Confirm this work and your market are included.

An agency may resolve scoped incidents without guaranteeing indexing or rankings. CallsIQ has not diagnosed a client's property: this editorial map separates facts before intervention.
