Short answer
Reduce web image size by matching dimensions to actual use, then applying compression while preserving text, figures and commercial details. Compare PaintShop Pro exports on the real page; fewer bytes alone do not guarantee better rankings.
Key verification: Check readability at displayed size and record the exported format, dimensions and file size.
Sources and limitationsTo reduce the weight of a commercial image without losing legibility, first adjust the dimensions to actual use and then the compression. Check figures, text and product details in the exported file. This guide proposes an acceptance sheet with PaintShop Pro for images from a service website.
Start with the displayed image dimensions
Measures the width that the image will occupy on the page and decides what resolution it needs on the intended devices. Don't always export the original of several thousand pixels. Keep the master file separate so that future versions do not start from a copy that has already lost information.
Distinguish photography, capture with text and logo. Not all content tolerates the same compression. If the words are essential, also publish them as HTML text: this way they can be selected and do not depend solely on enlarging an image on mobile.
Documented procedure in PaintShop Pro
Corel's official guide to saving files explains JPEG resizing and optimization using Save As, Options, and Run Optimizer, with before and after comparison. It is a tutorial reviewed by Corel in 2021; check names and availability in your current version.
Work on a copy and maintain proportions. Export several options with different names so you can compare them. Don't assume that one app's numerical quality value is the same as another's or that the same number will work for all images.
Original worksheet for comparing image exports
| Fictitious candidate | Dimensions | Assumed measured weight | Assumed visual result |
|---|---|---|---|
| A: original photograph | 4,000 × 3,000 | 2,400 KB | Exceeds the required size |
| B: resized copy | 1,200 × 900 | 210 KB | Required legible detail |
| C: higher compression | 1,200 × 900 | 95 KB | Garbled scene price |
This is fictional data to show the decision, not a PaintShop Pro benchmark. In this example you would choose B because C loses necessary information. In your files, record actual size and compare the same crop; do not declare savings measured from these figures.
Check the image inside the page
Opens the export at its intended size and on a small screen. Check that the browser does not stretch it, that no incorrect borders or transparencies appear, and that it preserves figures and references. Also check on a higher density screen if it is part of your target audience.
When incorporated into the HTML, it declares dimensions to reserve space and writes a textual alternative appropriate to its function. The Google Image Guide explains the use of alt text and context. Reducing bytes can help loading, but it does not in itself lead to an improvement in positions or Core Web Vitals.
Acceptance and maintenance
Retain master, export, published location and acceptance reason. If the price that appears in the scene changes, also update the image or remove it from the image to avoid inconsistencies. PaintShop Pro fits if you already use it for editing and need to optimize exports; you don't need to buy a new suite for a reduction that your existing tool solves.
