Short answer
Prepare a demonstration account without real data, select a window or tab and check capture and microphone permissions. Record a short trial and play the exported file, checking image, voice and synchronisation. Only then record and accept the full sequence.
Key verification: The final file should show the expected field and result, with audible narration and no production data or notifications.
Sources and limitationsNarrated screen capture shows precisely where to click and what changes. It is useful when viewers can see the action, hear the explanation and recognise the result. An avatar or visual template does not fix unreadable UI or missing audio.
Prepare the demonstration environment
Use fictional records and limited permissions. Open only required tabs and close messages, credential managers and client documents. Inspect autocomplete and menus that can reveal information when opened. Frame the whole task without including the desktop merely for convenience.
Scale the interface until labels and changes are readable at the intended playback size. Check that the pointer does not cover the result and scrolling does not move it out of frame. Decide whether system audio is required: capturing the microphone does not imply application audio is captured too.
A sample take
| Moment | Picture | Proposed narration |
|---|---|---|
| Start | Fictional record open | We will assign a follow-up date |
| Action | Field and selection visible | Choose the agreed date and save |
| Result | Saved date in the record | Check it appears in the activity |
This is an original proposed sequence, not a recording made in a product. Pause so viewers see the state before and after saving. If the system is slow, retain context or edit waiting time without suggesting instantaneous results. Do not present fictional screens as evidence of real performance.
Capture and editing with Synthesia
The official Synthesia recorder page describes capture through a Chrome extension and editing transcribed narration. Check permissions, compatibility, download and plan terms when using it. Select the correct tab and microphone and first produce a short sample without sending confidential material as a test.
After changing text or voice, check it against the visible action again. Narration saying “save” while the video still shows “edit” confuses viewers even when audio sounds correct. Do not automatically accept transcribed names, figures or terminology.
Accept the file the viewer will receive
Play the exported file from start to finish, including the final second. Check narration, field readability, synchronisation, absence of private information and the complete result. Also check mobile playback size if that is the destination. Keep the UI version and date to identify changes when updating the tutorial.
A local recorder with microphone may suffice for an occasional explanation. Evaluate Synthesia when editable transcription and repeated production address your workload. We have not measured time savings or tested this take on the platform; quality means viewers can follow and verify the action.
