Workstation locking · Documentation-based guide with original exercise

Locking a vault does not close your work sessions

Content updated:

Scope: Documentation reviewed on 9 October 2026. Examples are fictional and tests are proposed; CallsIQ has not performed product tests.

Short answer

Locking a manager protects vault access under its configuration; it does not establish that open websites signed out. Also check screen and clipboard using sample data. Configure each device and retain legitimate recovery before reducing lock times.

Key verification: The test identifies locked resources and remaining sessions without using or publishing actual secrets.

Sources and limitations

Someone leaves a workstation and the password manager shows a locked screen, yet the CRM remains open in another tab. These are separate controls, and a lock screenshot establishes only one. This guide tests temporary absence using your own account and fictional data without revoking users or changing another business’s policy.

Do not paste real passwords to document the test. Use identifiable fictional text and a private test destination. Vault locking, operating-system locking and web sign-out have different scopes. For promised clipboard clearing, check enabled history or syncing; one action does not establish removal of all copies.

NordPass and device-specific configuration

NordPass explains that Autolock is device-specific and other events may lock it sooner. Selecting a desktop timeout does not establish the mobile setting. Review used apps and extensions; early locking needs diagnosis rather than blindly lengthening the interval.

Fictional leave-and-return protocol

Record initial settings and open a nonsensitive sample web account. Lock the vault, review the matrix’s three resources and then lock the workstation. On return, verify authorised recovery and which controls actually acted. Repeat on the second device. Do not disable additional authentication for demonstration convenience; return must respect agreed policy.

Retain outcomes without screenshots exposing customer content. CallsIQ has not executed this NordPass test. Coordinate review with the owner of existing managed workstation controls. A manager’s value lies in verifiable custody rather than presenting its lock as universal session protection.
